Signing up for Myles Pollard’s Audition Workshop was the best decision I made to kick-start my acting career. I was accepted into the WAAPA Acting BA class of 2018 hands down because of the preparation I had with Myles. His wealth of knowledge, personal industry experience and down to earth teaching finesse was an all empowering experience that galvanised my self belief. Everything Myles took us through in the workshop came up in the audition process. From avoiding making it a performance, to instead focusing on the truth and depth behind the words. The intimate class size was a perfect balance between working one-on-one with Myles and watching and learning from others in the class. Having now completed the WAAPA training, I still regularly draw on lessons learnt with Myles. The biggest being the actor’s mindset and how simple techniques can make you both so watchable and unstoppable in performance. Myles’ workshop empowered me to actually believe in myself as an actor and story teller, to be unapologetic and not afraid to take risks on stage. The notes I took from his workshop were instrumental in keeping me on-track before the initial audition and each call back stage following. I still read over these notes today. Myles’ is a blessing.
