Lawrence Murphy and Oscar miller (Lazy Films)

LAWRENCE

“Myles Pollard's acting workshops were invaluable to not only my acting skills but to my entire acting career. I had just begun my acting journey when I attended his beginner workshops and was instantly hooked! He provided me with such an amazing array of acting tools and knowledge, many of which I still use to this day. Myles breaks down the most technical of acting skills in a simplistic and understandable way, whilst providing such an open and comfortable environment. I was one of six in the audition workshop for WAAPA and NIDA, and can say with confidence that what I learnt from Myles is a major reason as to why my WAAPA audition was successful. Thanks to Myles and his teachings, myself and 4 others who attended the workshop were accepted into WAAPA and are now working in the industry. I am have since graduated from WAAPA with a Bachelor of Performing Arts majoring in Performance Making. Since graduating I have co-founded the production company 'Lazy Films' with Oscar Millar (who also attended the same workshop and studied in the same course as myself). We are currently working on our first feature 'Transition' to be filmed in 2021. All of this was possible thanks to Myles' training, belief and support. Thanks Myles!"

Reminiscing back to late 2016, I was fresh out of high school, with vague dreams of becoming an Actor. However I had in my mind that this would be too difficult and instead had enrolled in a commerce degree. Prepared to follow societies version of smart stability over my passion for performing art and acting. Then my dad came across Miles ‘WAAPA and NIDA auditioning workshop’. I attended this course alongside an intimate class of 6 students. Miles taught me to detail my acting. To channel my nerves, differentiate my thoughts, to respond to my environment, follow my impulses, create newness and originality, use my own experiences and personality and many more really useful traits that built upon my 6 years of high school drama. I was lucky enough to get accepted into WAAPA for the Bachelor of Performing Arts. Of the 6 students in the class, 5 got in to WAAPA, and all are working within the perforating arts industry at varying degrees today. So thinking about it now, I think Miles played a bigger part than luck. He prepared us so well for the auditioning process that our chances were very much increased. Miles not only teaches nuanced skills and techniques but he gives you the confidence and belief that you can pursue your passions and dreams and make it work. I now have a small production company called LAZY FILMS with Lawrence Murphy who was another student in that original auditioning workshop. We are on our way to making our first feature ‘Transition’ at the end of this year and couldn’t be enjoying things more. And we are both very aware that we wouldn’t be here without Miles Pollard. So thank you. And if you are reading this, do not hesitate to participate in one of his courses. It could very much change your life.
